Vote up the vampires that Bram Stoke would think suck in all the best ways.

Created by Bram Stoker in Dracula during the late 19th century, Count Dracula has taken on numerous characteristics and skills since his initial presentation. Vampiric lore has developed beyond Dracula's shadow, ultimately giving way to changes that reflect more modern sensibilities.Ā

As a result, fictional vampires in television shows, movies, video games, and animated properties all have unique qualities to bring to the coffin. Whether or not Stoker would approve is for you to decide. Which fictional vampires suck in ways that would make Bram Stoker proud?

    Dracula

    Bram Stoker's Dracula

As the titular character in the movie adaption of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Count Dracula emerges after Vlad Dracula loses his wife, renounces God, and drinks blood from his chapel's cross. Dracula is seductive, can hypnotize humans, and takes on different forms to match his needs.

Dracula's presence in England highlights the ā€œothernessā€ of Dracula found in Stoker's work while the erotic nature of his machinations similarly corresponds to the Victorian period during which Stoker wrote.

In many ways setting the mold for vampires on the big screen, the original Count Orlock, who was also Nosferatu, was had long fingernails, a hooked nose, and a bald head - not at all an appealing physical appearance like Dracula, in other words. Horrifying and mesmerizing all in one, Nosferatu thrived on chaos and did not hold back from succumbing to his need for blood.

Unlike Dracula, however, Nosferatu was destroyed by sunlight instead of weakened by it and was moodier than his literary counterpart.

  • Lestat de Lioncourt

Lestat de Lioncourt is spoiled, pretty, and generally a sociopath, but that's why he's a good vampire. His sexual allure attracts men and women alike, and his powers of manipulation allow him to suck the blood of anyone he chooses.

In contrast to his ageless paramour Louis de Ponte du Lac, who is prone to moments of kindness, Lestat never really succumbs to that kind of weakness.

  • Count von Count

It's not clear what Count von Count eats, but he's incredibly dedicated to counting in his free time. Luckily, counting can be done with just a minor amount of light, making it an all-the-time activity.

The accent, outfit, and agelessness all correspond to traditional vampires, but it's also difficult to assess whether he sleeps in a coffin or has any other supernatural abilities.

  • Angel

There's only one Angel, but he's been in multiple shows. As the vampire with a soul (a curse and a blessing), Angel falls in love with Buffy Summers but ultimately makes his way to Los Angeles to continue protecting people from demons.

Angel does is best to avoid feeding on humans but he is a vampire and can't always resist. He's an excellent night prowler, a good fighter, and exhibits a lot of other traditional vampire abilities that he uses for good.

Seductive and tyrannical, Santanico Pandemonium (formerly known as Esmerelda) thinks she's superior to humans and, in many ways, she is. She can shape-shift, has great strength, and is immortal. She is vulnerable to sunlight and a stake through the heart, though.
