While most forms of travel have improved over the years, airplanes appear to be getting worse. Nothing illustrates the decline of air travel quite like photos of how airplane food used to look. Before they took away legroom and liquids, airlines started doing away with the fancy dining options. Once a luxury enjoyed by the poshest of people, air travel included meals on fine china alongside cigarettes for sale; today, you're lucky to receive a free plastic cup of water.
Old photographs reveal all the different things passengers once got away with on airlines. After all, what's more shocking: people smoking on airlines, or people partaking of a full Southern-style buffet? Either way, it's enough to make you reach for an oxygen mask.
