It's been over 10 years since the 2008 release of Iron Man, yet, there's still no sign of the Marvel Cinematic Universe losing any steam. After the incredibly successful release of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame - two game-changing event films that featured a decade's worth of characters - Marvel Studios is already looking into the future with Blade, The Eternals, and more Spider-Man. The MCU also welcomes more Marvel superheroes to the fold thanks to the launch of Disney+, the exclusive home to streaming shows like Ms. Marvel and WandaVision.
As impressive as the MCU is, not everything about it was easily set in stone. Early MCU concept art reveals a completely different look and attitude for various Marvel characters like Thor, Black Panther, and Thanos. This beautifully illustrated Marvel concept art was shared on Instagram by Ryan Meinerding, the Head of Visual Development at Marvel Studios, Andy Park, Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios, Charlie Wen, Head of Visual Development for films like Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ant-Man, and Justin Sweet, who has worked on several MCU films.
After browsing this unused Marvel concept art, one can't help but wonder what the MCU could have looked like if the original designs were approved.
