30 Days of Night shocked an electrifying and terrifying life back into the vampiric creatures of the night as suddenly the gothic lovers were nothing more than blood-craved monstrosities who would rip and tear through anything and anyone to get what they wanted. The vampires showcased in this film have a certain level of brutality and viciousness that horror audiences had simply never seen before, and it was truly a sight to behold. There have never been vampires like the ones in 30 Days of Night before, and there arguably will never be any as vicious as them ever again.

While most mainstream audiences were more akin to seeing vampires as gorgeous, glorious, and provocative creatures, in Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk til Dawn, the creatures got a horrific makeover, creating some of the scariest vampires ever seen in film. Looking more like gigantic disfigured bats as opposed to anything anyone would see in Twilight, the vampires in the film were brutal, but what really made them utterly terrifying was their design. These disgusting creatures started a revolution in the 90s and early 2000s as what vampires would look like, but nothing ever struck fear in the hearts of audiences quite like the original.

Director Guillermo del Toro took the reigns for the sequel to everyone's favorite vampire-killing Marvel superhero in Blade II, and the master of frights put his own incredibly unique and uneasy spin on the creatures of the night. Giving them unhinged jaws that completely opened up to reveal the things nightmares are made out of, Blade II showcased some of the most original and scariest vampires ever seen on the silver screen. Their brutality and viciousness mirrored by their intense and jaw-dropping look helped them stand out as some of the greatest creatures of the night of all time.

Fright Night may be one of the most popular and beloved horror films of all time, and the notion that it is scary may be absurd to some, but there is no doubt that the designs of the creatures of the night undoubtedly scarred plenty of audience members throughout the 80s. The remarkably unique design of the vampires with their massive mouths, bulging red eyes, and massive fangs is an image that many horror fans still acclaim and love to this day, but for those unsuspecting, these images of scary vampires is almost too much to handle.

The futuristic science fiction horror movie Daybreakers seemed like a more run-of-the-mill take on vampires but with a sci-fi twist, but it wouldn't be until the second half of the film that the true terror of these creatures would reveal themselves. While looking human and glorious when they drink blood, when starved, these suave and pristine creatures turned into some of the most animalistic and feral depictions of vampires ever seen in movies. They brought devastating realism and savagery in their performances and gave more than a few viewers nightmares.

It's very rare where the horror action film actually delivers on the horror aspect of their films, but in 2012's Priest, director Scott Stewart delivered a truly spine-chilling product. In a film that follows an ongoing war between priests and vampires, the vampire plague is brought to life in fascinating depiction as feral and monstrous creatures with no eyes and long deformed bodies with four teeth ready to puncture and suck the blood out of anyone who gets in their way. A frightfully fun film, Priest showcases some of the most unique and scary vampires ever seen in film.
