Vote up the shows that finally proved to be too much for you to watch in 2024.

When a new season of your favorite show is just around the corner, it's a bit exciting. Well, it can be.

Almost as often, the fresh episodes lack the same intrigue and feel as the seasons you remember and rewatch. Maybe it's really hard to get back into the characters or the story. It's possible the end of one season was full of promises that never show up in the new season. Or, as is often the case, the show tries too hard and goes into purely ridiculous territory.

Regardless, these are the shows that turned in seasons that risk making fans call it quits in 2024.

  • Grey's Anatomy

WHY WE GAVE UP: Through more than 20 seasons, the love lives of the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital have usurped any medical drama in Grey's Anatomy. How many individuals from the same workplace can actually date each other? Grey's implies the answer to that question is infinite.

  • The Umbrella Academy

WHY WE GAVE UP: Season four of The Umbrella Academy was the final season but even the most steadfast of completists struggled to choke down all six episodes. Efforts to tie together the stories and make sense were completely unsuccessful, while the series finale inspired a fan revolt.

  • The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Clémence Poésy

WHY WE GAVE UP: As a spinoff of the original series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon focuses on Daryl, but season two was subtitled “The Book of Carol.” The promise of a reunion between Daryl and Carol was intriguing but exhaustion from constant challenges preventing it set in very quickly.

WHY WE GAVE UP: It happens a lot with primetime dramas - they become soap opera-ish, ridiculous, and too much to take. 9-1-1 hit this point before season eight even started when it promised a swarm of bees taking over the streets of Los Angeles.

  • Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
    5
Javier Bardem, Chloë Sevigny, Cooper Koch
    627 votes

WHY WE GAVE UP: As the second season of Ryan Murphy's Monsters, the story presented about Lyle and Erik Menendez was beyond over-the-top, even for Murphy. Overdramatized to the point of being insulting, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story may signal that Murphy has finally gone too far.

  • The Simpsons

WHY WE GAVE UP: Each year, The Simpsons looks like it might have some new and innovative ideas. Unfortunately, it's become about how they comment on society while bringing in the newest celebrities to provide the voices to short-lived characters.
