Let's face it: sci-fi gets our geek gears going — especially when we're watching our favorite science fiction novels play out on the big screen. The movie industry has welcomed significant tech improvements in the past decade, and as a result, we're seeing more sci-fi adaptions than ever before.

As technology and science expand in the real world, so does the ability to bring more stories from the written page to life. Sure, authors can describe something in written form without the barriers of tech and believable graphics. Yet when it comes to transitioning from the page to the screen, filmmakers often have their work cut out for them. So, after all that work, why not hide some fun sci-fi Easter eggs and other nerdy nuggets for fans to dig up?

Sci-fi filmmakers certainly know their target audience, and many detail-oriented fans seek out the smallest details from within the genre and beyond that are hidden in plain sight. Did any of these sci-fi small details escape your notice?

In The Hunger Games (2012) Haymitch can be seen in the crowd during the tributes parade smelling a flower instead of throwing it out to the tributes, since he's from District 12 and not the Capitol.
